VFX-Level Controls

Previzion works with a live HDSDI 4:2:2 YCbCr video signal in a variety of frame rates, including 59.94i and 23.976PsF. (4:4:4 operation is planned for using the existing hardware.) All internal operations are performed in 32 bit floating point color space, avoiding information loss in the signal, and the signal is converted back to 4:2:2 YCbCr color space for its live output. In this way, Previzion integrates cleanly with existing production equipment that generates a SMPTE standard HDSDI signal.

The foundation of a good composite is the extraction of the live action subject from the blue or green background. To achieve this, Previzion uses a real time implementation of the dvMatte Pro 3 keying algorithm, providing incredible foreground separation while maintaining the fine hair and edge detail that is the hallmark of quality VFX compositing.

Our implementation of dvMatte includes a real time, full resolution preview so that the operator can instantly see the effect of each adjustment, and the base settings combined with an evenly lit background can generate a seamless composite with just a couple of clicks. dvMatte behaves just like the high quality post production keyers that you are already used to – adjust in and out points to solidify the key, automatically generate light wrapping effects to blend the foreground into the background, and use the advanced detail extraction system to preserve even single stray hairs in the final composite.
